Malli's lottery and money
Earn N by selling dishes and completing special orders; treat the lottery as entertainment. The big jackpot (20M N+) has no publicly confirmed winner. Spend on rods first.
Money in SCREENSIDE FISHER (and yes, it is just written "N" in-game) comes from the water and goes into gear. Malli's Lottery is the fun detour on the side — scratch tickets, tiny wins, one enormous legend. Here is how the whole economy actually behaves.

Every catch is worth money — cooked, it is worth more.
Earning N, ranked
- Sell your catches. The baseline. Your first sale unlocks "stonks" (61.7% of players). Quick, zero setup.
- Cook first, sell second. A fish turned into a dish is worth more than the fish — and it counts toward the Recipe Catalog. The cooking page covers the conversions.
- Special Orders. A request for one specific dish pays for your stocked pantry. Best bursts of income in the game.
- The lottery. Entertainment, not income. See below.
- Sea urchins at the shop window. Since 1.0.5, urchins can be put in the shop window for sale in addition to their music-exchange use — a small quality-of-life money line that launch players did not have.
Malli's Lottery
Malli's lottery is a scratch-ticket machine. You buy a ticket, you scratch, you mostly get small change — one player on the forums had scratched a hundred tickets and their best result was still only 1,000 N. But the ticket counter is its own achievement ("Maneki-neko" — scratch the ticket 100 times, 6.4% of players), so the lottery is really a patience machine with a badge at the end.
The legend: nobody has publicly confirmed winning the big prize. A September thread asked exactly that — whether anyone had ever won the jackpot, described there as upward of 20M N. The only reply was another player asking how to make money faster. As of the end of September 2026, the jackpot is Schrödinger's prize: real until proven otherwise.
What to spend on, in order
- Rods first. Power is the only thing that changes what the water gives you — full breakdown on the rods and Luck page.
- Ingredients second. They turn cash into better cash through the kitchen.
- Then the luxuries. Music tracks, ambient soundscapes and the fish tank ("New tank. New aquarium." — 19.9%) are atmosphere. Buy them when the rods are done, not before.
The shops page maps which shopkeeper sells which of these — including the two shops you still have to unlock before their stock even exists for you.
